Webometrics Ranking of World Universities

The University of Sadat City (USC) has achieved a significant progress by 13824 position at the level of world universities according to Webometrics Ranking (July 2020 Edition).

The "Webometrics Ranking of World Universities" is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain. Webometrics is one of the international evaluation systems for universities, covering more than 20,000 universities.

Webometrics main objective is to promote scientific research as to improve the progress of the scientific and technological level of the country and encourage the publication of scientific research (Web publication), supporting Open Access initiatives, electronic access to scientific publications and to other academic material, as the primary objective of the Ranking Web is to promote Open Access to the knowledge generated by the University.

The Ranking Web (or Webometrics Ranking) is published twice a year (data is collected during the first weeks of January and July for being public at the end of both months), covering more than 30 000 Higher Education Institutions worldwide.

The ranking process is based on measuring universities through their websites within criteria that include:

• PRESENCE: Public knowledge shared

• VISIBILITY: Web contents Impact

• TRANSPARENCY (or OPENNESS): Top cited researchers

• EXCELLENCE (or SCHOLAR): Top cited papers

• World ranking

USC has achieved a very noticeable increasing from 19936 place (Jan 2020) to 6112 place (Jul 2020).

USC’s rank has been increased from 57 (Jan 2020) to 39 (Jul 2020) among 70 universities and scientific institution in Egypt
