One of the biggest challenges in a post-conflict process of normalization rises in the area of education. Libya, amongst many other similar examples of conflict countries sooner or later will face this challenge and will have to come up with a road map for a solid future of prosperity and peace. Our effort at EURAS together with our workshop partner -IAU AFRICA Research Center also revealed that an international comparative multidisciplinary approach, studying cross sectional and cross sectoral post-conflict set-up is a necessity. It is also the case with many examples of post conflict capacity building efforts and the role education played thereof, starting from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Afghanistan, from Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Libya to Yemen.

Education and capacity building are two areas that are intermingled very strongly. This is even more strongly pronounced in many war torn places of the World. It has been so throughout history as we are presented with many fine examples of post conflict capacity building efforts and the role education played thereof, starting from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Afghanistan, from Iraq, Syria, Libya and Yemen. We would like to ground some of the experiences with capacity building and develop a thorough understanding of what it involves by looking at each individual case. In this sense we would like call upon our members at EURAS and international universities to join us in exploring past experiences to form a conceptual background, to find common treads, scope, context and breadth of capacity building and education.
