USC Participates in the Closing of The Universities Youth Parliament Forum

    Within the framework of USC’s participation in the closing session of the activities of the first forum of university youth parliament officials, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, around 33 of “governmental, Egyptian National, private and technological” universities are participating in the event during the period of 10 – 13 May 2022 at the Engineering Authority House. While USC delegation included; Mr. Haitham Kandil – Director of Student Welfare Department, Mr. Aymen Ali – Manager of SU Management, Dr. Elsayed Badawy – Parliament Official, Stu. Ragheb Ismail – USCian SU President, and under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Bayoumi – President of the University of Sadat City and Dr. Sherif Ali – Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs.

The closing session was witnessed the attendance of Dr. Ashraf Sobhy – Minister of Youth and Sports, in his speech, he expressed great interest in political education programs for youth and the ministry's keenness to implement a series of projects and programs for university students in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education. Dr. Sobhi added: “There are honorable models of youth, members of the Youth Parliament and the Universities Youth Parliament, with great knowledge and expertise of various issues and challenges, which translates the ministry’s keenness on political education among the youth community”.

The Minister of Youth and Sports continued: "Egyptian universities have a historical role in the Egyptian political movement, and we are working to implement a package of educational, sports and creative activities within universities in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education," pointing to the expansion of the implementation of projects and activities provided to university students, including the "University Youth Parliament." The Ministry of Youth and Sports is keen on its sustainability, and the participation of the largest number of students.

The closing session also was attended by a number of members of the House of Representatives, including "Rep. Major General Ibrahim El-Masry, Rep. Dr. Mona Abdel Atty, Rep. Amin Masoud, Rep. Shadia Khudair, Rep. Hayam El-Tabbakh", and from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Major General Ismail Al-Far –  CEO, and Ahmed Afifi – Head of the central administration of the Parliament for Civil Education, Najwa Salah – Head of the central administration of the Parliament for Cultural and Voluntary Programs, Dr. Mohamed Hassan, Deputy Minister, and officials of the Parliament.

Moreover, Participants of youth also listened to the statements of the deputies about the importance of political rehabilitation and skills development, how to be conscious to confront rumors, identifying the challenges facing our country, and the role of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in building youth capacities and skills, all of these topics were discussed in a session lectured by journalist Mohamed Abdullah.

The Universities Youth Parliament Forum aims to spread awareness of the importance of parliamentary work among youth, sharpen their public speaking skills, enhance confidence, knowledge of parliamentary workflow, political life practicing, and study successful parliamentary experiences and try to benefit from them.
