The president of the University of Sadat City opens the Center for students with disabilities in partnership with the US Agency for development under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and in partnership with the US Agency for International Development and the AMIDEAST Commission, Dr. Shaden moawe, president of the University, opened on Thursday, 12/12/2024, the Center for students with disabilities at the public service center at the University, in the presence of Dr Quincy Dermody, director of the scholarship program at public universities, Dr. Dina Mohsen, deputy director of the University Grants Program at AMIDEAST, Dr. Emad Abdul Malik, higher education project management expert at the US Agency, Dr. Mary Mikhail, project management specialist and leader of exchange and training at the US Agency, Professor Mohammed Zakaria, project coordinator and responsible for it at he University, engineer Islam Al-faishawi, president of the Investors Association in Sadat City, Dr. Khaled Jaafar, vice president of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Khamis Mohammed Khamis, supervisor of the Education and Student Affairs Sector, Dr. Azza Al-Omari, director of The Center for services for students with disabilities, Dr. nashuh Mukhtar, deputy director of the center, and a number of deans and vice-deans of colleges, heads of departments and representatives of the American agency For International Development, representatives of the AMIDEAST Commission, representatives of government and private institutions and civil society associations to care for people with disabilities, employees of the center for student with disabilities services, and a number of university students with disabilities and their families . After the president of the university cut the opening ribbon, the attendees toured the center's headquarters, inspected the center's facilities to provide services to university students with disabilities, then the president of the University and the attendees moved to the University Hotel Hall . In her speech, Dr. Shaden Muawiya, president of the University, expressed her great happiness ecause of the effective partnership with the US Agency for International Development USAID, for being a strategic partner of the University, stressing that the project reflects the commitment of the Egyptian state to achieve educational equality and the empowerment of all student groups, stressing that the project reflects the commitment of the Egyptian state. She thanked Dr. Mohammed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for his patronage of the partnership, explaining that the Center for Students with Disabilities Services project is the second cooperation project with the U.S. Agency for international development after the University Centers for Career development project, expressing her happiness also in partnership with the AMIDEAST authority with its human and technical capabilities. She pointed out that the project aims to promote equal access to higher education for people with disabilities of all kinds, while achieving their full integration into higher education and providing a friendly environment for them on the campus. "Muawiya added that the University of Sadat City adopts a clear strategy to care for its students with special abilities aimed at achieving accessibility, integration, empowerment and effective participation, in addition to discovering and nurturing talents, in order to ensure effective community participation, and applying the principles of equal opportunities, equality and non-discrimination, integrating them with all aspects of university life and harnessing all means to support them and solve difficulties and any problems they may face and to provide equal opportunities for them to participate in all aspects of university life, as well as encouraging students with disabilities to innovate in order to develop their abilities to keep up with the requirements of the labor market, and to ensure the sustainability of the provision of services, addressing students with disabilities that they are not alone and that they are a distinctive and effective partner. She confirmed that the university succeeded with its partners to establish a center equipped with the latest devices that ensure the provision of diverse and integrated services for students with various disabilities. For her part, Quincy Dermody congratulated the University on the opening of the center today, thanking and appreciating the cooperation and effective partnership with the university in this project, valuing the work done by the university to ensure equal access to education for people with disabilities, stressing that the establishment of Disability Services centers in all 27 Egyptian public universities is part of the Higher Education Scholarship initiative Funded by the US Agency for International Development and supported by the Ministry of Higher Education since 2015, and that the role of AMIDEAST is to provide training, technical guidance and provide furniture and equipment, and the role of the University in providing physical access and human resources. The events witnessed the screening of a recorded film by Ms. Sarah mankara, special adviser for international rights of people with disabilities at the US Department of state, during which she sent her sincere wishes that the center achieve the goals for which it was established and addressed a motivational speech to students with disabilities to urge them to make the most of the center's services.
