Objectives

The main objective of the project is to mechanize all of work processes in the Egyptian universities and libraries and link between these libraries through the Egyptian Universities Network. The automation and connectivity aim to build a unified index for the holdings of those libraries, which helps to achieve maximum efficiency in uses of the available information resources in Egyptian university libraries and the elimination of unwanted duplication of holdings and operations.

 

The unified index helps to achieve uniformity in the work actions between the libraries according international specifications and standards, as well as uniformity in hardware and software, and the adoption of unified policies that provide many cooperative programs such as cooperative acquisition, cooperative cataloging and inter-library loan services.
